38 Weeks

37 weeks and 3 days

Baby's size:  She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long -- like a leek!

Sleep:  My hips and back are killing me -- especially by the end of the day!  But that's to be expected, right?!

Maternity clothes:  Always.  Still wearing short sleeves lots and no jacket; baby 2 is making me roast 24/7.

Food cravings:  Does everything count?!  I don't think there is anything that doesn't appeal to me that I would normally eat!

Food aversions:  Vegetables and beef...for the same reasons!

Symptoms I have:  STILL HEARTBURN!  And I'm exhausted all. the. time.

Doctor's appointment:  I got to have an ultrasound last week!!!  I was all excited and thinking I was going to get a sneak peek at her features, but no such luck!  Baby 2 has her head wedged down and turned away. The u/s technician did say, "Wow, she has her legs shoved up into your ribs."  Um, yes, I realize that!!!  Baby 2 has hair, though!  That's the only picture that we got!  Baby 2 did pass all 8 things that they were checking for, so no inductions!

Movement:  She is still a crazy mover -- especially at night!

Belly button:  Still wonky.

Gender:  I hope she's still a girl -- we didn't check that during the ultrasound!

What I'm looking forward to:  Not being pregnant!  I hope I remember the uncomfortable state that I'm in when I'm taking care of two and getting even less sleep!

What I miss:  Being able to move comfortably.  Every time I get up, I have to run to the bathroom!  With her head being so low, it makes me wonder if she will be early or on time.  I am torn because it would be nice to have her and then be home for halloween, but then it'd probably be easier to have her after and enjoy my last celebration with just Scarjo!

FUN Links!

Jennifer Garner was on Ellen a few weeks ago; she totally made me feel like a good mom!

MODG seriously rocks my world and she understands my pain!!!  I read this out loud to Tyler while laughing the whole way through!

This made me chuckle!

Chrissy's blog.  This girl is just crazy!  And she has a pretty famous significant other!

Subscribe!  You won't regret it if you love to get the news easily and succinctly.  I read the headlines before I get out of bed!

I feel like this could be baby 2's future.

I'm up for this!

My favorite line, "...have we all become Madonna?"  Hehehe!

Now here is just a cute picture of my favorite little lady:

It was so cold today, so we busted out some winter clothes!!!  Every time I looked at her, I couldn't stop laughing!!!  She was not impressed with me!

Big Girl Bed!

Scarlett finally has her big girl bed in her own room; woohoo!  One more thing checked off the to-do list!  She was so psyched about it and insisted on sleeping in it that first night.  I was a little hesitant...after all, her room still needs the door to be put back on it's hinges!  (Her room was my closet back in my childless days!)
Bribed her with princesses!

Although her room had no door, we did set up her sound machine, so we felt like that would block out any sound that might wake her up.  And we'd rearranged the room just so her new princess night light was the main focus of that side of the room, so she was extra excited for her new bedroom!!!

We were ready to let her sleep in there because, well, I was really not for it, but how could I say no?!  I know it's what's best for our growing family and I really didn't want to discourage her excitement.

At bedtime, our routine moved into her room, and so we settled in to read books and snuggle until she fell asleep.  It happened almost instantly because she'd not napped at all and had had an extremely eventful day with Cam and Alyssa.  I was happy that she felt comfortable enough to fall asleep!

That night was the first night Tyler and I had our room to ourselves since Scarlett was born!  It felt great, but also soooo strange without her warm little body reaching for me in her sleep.

I assumed that it'd be the best night of sleep I was going to get for the past (almost) three years...but I was WAY wrong!  My body wouldn't shut itself off; I was so alert just making sure Scarlett didn't wake up and need me in the middle of the night.  SO annoying.  When she did eventually wake up and realize that I wasn't there, she screamed for me and I ran in, grabbed her, and snuggled her in the bed that's in our room...right next to our's!  Bad habit, I know, but I just wasn't ready.  Is that ridiculous, or what?!  Truth be told, that was the only night we attempted to have her sleep in her own room.  Ugh!

Looking on the bright side, I'm getting better sleep because I'm not worried about Scarlett.  She's getting better sleep, too, because as long as she can reach out and touch me in her sleep, she won't wake up!  There has to be a better way, though...especially since baby 2 is coming a couple of weeks!

Yesterday...

It was a long day yesterday!  We started out with the best intentions of having a fun day...and it was!  But there were a few bumps along the way...!

When I woke up, I had an email saying that I had won a raffle I'd entered at Diddos for Kiddos!!!  Woohoo!!!  I never win anything, so I was extra surprised and happy by my good luck!  I called the contact number and made plans to meet the lady in a parking lot right off the highway.  Perfect.  The only hitch was that I had to be there 30 minutes before Scarlett's favorite part of the day, toddler time, ended.  No biggie, but we'd have to scoot our boot out of there without a fight!!!

When we were leaving toddler time, Scarlett grabbed her daily sticker, and we headed off to the jeep.  No struggle at all!  I raced across town, made it there in time, and the raffle lady handed over the prize!  Scarlett and I were both excited and we were chatting and dancing to Biebs on the way to DD for my once-a-day coffee (my favorite part of the day!) and a cheese wrap for Scarlie Jo.  Life was good!

There was no line at Dunkin' Donuts, so we didn't wait long, and before I knew it, the lady was handing me my pumpkin deliciousness.  Then Scarlett screamed and started to really cry and grab at her nose.  Hmmm...

She screamed that her sticker was up her nose and then she just kept crying and kind of freaking out.  I made her look up and there it was!  I could just see the very edge of that blue smiley face -- it was up there pretty far!

At this point, I started freaking out!  Where would the sticker go??  It would just go to the back of her throat and then into her stomach.  NBD, right?!  But I wasn't sure...would it go up in her brain?  Get stuck in her face??  I frantically asked the DD lady if they had any tweezers (not really sure what I was thinking.), but they gave me blank stares, so I turned back to Scarlett and tried to grab it out with my swollen pregnancy fingers, but there was no way that thing was budging.  I turned back around and they were all staring at me, "Did you get it out?" they asked.  "Um, no.  I need her wrap, so that I can go!!!"

I mean, this may have been one of my worst parenting decisions; I waited for her cheese wrap.  WHAT WAS I THINKING?!  I have no idea.  Mom fail.

Anyway, they handed over the goods and I speed-raced outta there!  I live very close to DD -- it took all of 30 seconds for me to get home.  Then I raced inside, snagged the tweezers, ran back to the jeep and tweezered out the dang sticker!  PHEW!!!

Once I sighed with relief, I had a twinge of disappointment that I hadn't taken a picture of the sticker inside her nose.  But luckily, I did remember to snap a shot of the aftermath:

Welcome.
After the crazy morning we'd just had, Scarjo was still up for visiting Auntie Mary and playing at the playground for an hour.  Kill me now!  I just cannot enjoy the playground unless I have someone to chat with while Scarlett plays.  Pain-ful!

After a quick lunch, Scarlett was (finally!) worn out and begging for a nap!  Yessss.

Diddos for Kiddos

Last weekend was SO amazing; I love it when that happens!

Friday night, Mary and I went to Diddos for Kiddos.  Baby-free!  Thank you, Tyler for watching the little ladies for FOUR hours by yourself.  That was magic!

Babies/toddlers/children are not welcome to the Friday night sale, so Mary and I scramble to find sitters for the spring sale.  Tyler was out of town and my mom was unavailable, so we hired their FIRST EVER babysitter.  It worked out well, but we felt like we were on a time-crunch.  This time around, we had all the time in the world!

Diddos for Kiddos is hard to write about because they misspell "dittos."  It drives me crazy!  And I have to agree with Mary, it's too painful to update your facebook status because you just can't type "ditto" as "diddo."  You just can't.  But I have to write about my fantastic finds, so "diddos" it is.

Diddos for Kiddos is a flash sale that happens twice a year (Spring/Fall) at the same location about 25 minutes from our town.  Anyone can sign up to be a consignor; you tag all of your items with your given number and your choice of price. Some sellers are fair, but others either ridiculously over-price their lame items or way under-price their fantastic ones.  The latter ones are the best finds!  About a week before the sale, you bring your items, from children's clothes, toys, equipment to maternity clothes, and the workers inspect every item.  Then it's time to put your items on the racks; it takes about 15-20 minutes for this whole process.  NBD.

The actual sale is all day Saturday and then everything is half-price for the Sunday sale.  Everything's pretty picked over by Sunday, so we never hit that.  Mary and I are both consignors, so we get to go to the pre-sale on Friday evening.  YESSS!  The doors open at 6pm, but we get there to wait in line by at least 5pm.  By 6pm, the line is probably 200 people deep.  Serious business...don't even get me started on the line cutters...!  This year, the ladies at the front even ordered pizza to be delivered and they ate in their beach chairs while they waited.

Finally, it was 6pm and we were let in!  I'm really all set with baby equipment, but it's just addicting to buy!  And at such great deals, I couldn't help myself!  Here are a few of my favorite finds:

The Galt Playnest and Gym

Eeeekkkkk!!!  I saw this and freaked when I saw the price.  I snatched that bad boy right up!!!  And for ONLY $12.  Woohoo!  It's in almost brand new condition -- I just had to bring it home and wash it to freshen it up a bit.  What a find!  I just wonder what the seller was thinking...!  I didn't have a playnest with Scarlett, so I'm curious to see how much better this is than a playmat.  And really, I just need lots of things to entertain baby 2 because Scarjo is still high-maintenance when it comes to needing attention!

Baby Uggs (for reals!!!!!)

My mom bought Scarlett and Louisa their own pair of Uggs for Christmas last year that still fit them and she just bought Camdyn and Alyssa their own pairs of the same boots.  With this find, now all of the girls have Uggs!  Too adorable -- especially when they all match!  And here's the best part; guess how much I paid...$2.  TWO DOLLARS.  They look brand new and I paid only two dollah, dollah bills!!!  (Okay, Mary found them, but still...!)  You can't beat it!

So Diddos for Kiddos started out my weekend on a fabulous note.  (I swear I get a shopping high -- great deals make me happy!)

Actually, my Friday started pretty fantastic because my mom kidnapped Scarjo and took her to a Halloween cookie decorating party with Cam and Alyssa!  (no school for the big girls!)  Tyler had that day off to help with my to-do list for baby 2 preparations, so with no Scarjo, we got lots done and even had time for a baby-free lunch out!  I cannot remember the last time that happened!  Turns out, it's pretty awesome, but I'm not sure when it will ever happen again now that baby 2 is about to come.  Hello, dependable and trust-worthy babysitter!  Hopefully.

My mom has an instructional video on how to dance like a princess!

Friday was the best day ever, though I missed Scarlett lots!!!

Scarlett, the cheerleader!

Scarlett learned this cheer from Alyssa, the professional cheerleader in our family!  The colors in the cheer change whenever Scarlett says it, but she's always so proud of herself; it cracks us up every time!

Kitties for days!

While my mom's husband is away for work, we've been socializing at her house all week!  It's been a party!

One hilarious night, all the little ladies were coloring with markers while we were chitchatting.  (Yay for entertained babies!)  Though when we looked over, Scarlett had colored a black circle on her nose.  Mary, being the fun aunt that she is, said, "Hey, Scarjo, do you want me to make you a kitty?!"  Of course, Scarjo (and all of the other girls!) wanted to take Mary up on her offer!  So off to work Mary went, creating little kitty faces on Alyssa, Lulu, and Scarlett.  (Mum wouldn't allow Cam to join in because she's a little too old!)

We all chuckled at their cuteness and went on with our gossiping!

Scarlett and Louisa had a party splashing in the sink, and that took off some of the marker.  So when we got home, I just sat Scarjo at the edge of the sink to scrub her down with warm water and lots of Dove soap.  Her kitty whiskers faded, but refused to be washed off.

Turns out, the markers that Auntie Mary used were for POSTERS and absolutely not waterproof!!!  SO, the girls got to be kitties again the next day, too!
