Poppin' Tags!

Listening to this song on repeat while I cook dinner and dessert!  I'm almost as obsessed with it as Scarlett Tyler!  When they say the f bomb, I just sing "really" even louder!  Works like a charm!  ;)

Birthday Recap!

Little Miss Katie Scarlett turned THREE on January 19.  It was an eventful 48 hours -- between everyone's works schedules and Alyssa's time with her dad, no one was free to get together for one big party, so we had an unconventional birthday fun that lasted all weekend!  First up was a mini-party at Grammum's, so Alyssa could be included and so Scarlett could blow out candles on a birthday cake.  The cake was a very important part for Scarjo!

She insisted that the cake said, "Happy Birthday Katie Scarlett!"

Grammum, Poppy, Auntie Molly, and Alyssa Lou!

Barbie gift decoration!  Grammum rocks!

Her last day as a two-year-old!

Happy girl!

Friday night was a looong night for me!  After Scarlett's party, we went home, I put the babies to sleep while Tyler picked up her big gift, and then we both worked on getting ready for the big day!  Tyler put together the truck while I wrapped all the gifts!

I wanted Scarlett to wake up to fun surprises, so we had her big gift set up and ready for her to play with it...

She was surprised!

Scarlett in her new truck!
Once she played with the truck for a bit, we headed out to Tim Horton's for our birthday doughnut tradition!

The birthday girl gets to pick out all 12 doughnuts!  Once she's started eating her favorite (usually the one with the most sprinkles!), the rest of us cut off little pieces of the different doughnuts and talk about all of our birthday plans!

After dropping Tyler off at work, we headed home to get ready.  Next up?  PEDICURES with Auntie Mimi and Lulu!  It was Scarjo's first pedicure ever!  She was psyched and it was so fun to hear her try to say, "pedicure," over and over!  Cute!

A little apprehensive!

Lulu was less excited about the pedicure and decided to just get her nails painted!

Old pro by this point!
Grammum, Auntie Molly, and Cam met us at the nail salon, too -- parties!  Once all of our toes were pretty, Grammum, Scarlett, Poppy, and Cam went to get lunch and Tyler while Molly and I tanned!!!  Yesss!

Mary and Lulu went on their way to the Children's Museum and Tyler, Poppy, the birthday girl, and me drove to meet them -- there was still more birthday fun to be had!

As you can see, babies were breaking down and needed some DINNER!  Off to Red Robin we went...!  It was such a fun birthday for Scarlett!  She was excited to be THREE.  She equated being three with being a big girl, officially.  It's pretty silly how all the little ones just want to be "big."

The wait staff was singing to her -- she was SO excited!  (even if you can't tell!)

When we got home, Scarlett opened the gifts from Tyler and me.  The actual opening of the gifts was the best part -- what was inside was less important to her until the next day!

I tried to capture a picture of me with the birthday girl without much success...

Looks away at the last minute...

Okay, finally she looks!  But then I look wonky!

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday

  • I ran into my husband's ex...while I had on no make up and was wearing Tyler's old sweatshirt.  Ugh!
  • Scarlett has gone from being called "ScarJo" to just plain "SJ."  Yuck, I know, but it just slides off the tongue...
  • Celebrating Scarlett's birthday is more fun than when it's my own!
  • Ordering the birthday cake was a process...and I even cancelled the first one two days before I needed it.   It was already made.  That just confirmed the fact that canceling the order was the right decision!
  • Tyler told me that On Demand only gets new shows on Tuesday.  I believed him.  I would only check my On Demand only on Wednesday mornings for months.
  • I have started tanning.  It is such a guilty pleasure for me and I look forward to those 20 minutes of peace and quiet, but I know that I'll have to do it in moderation AND stock up on anti-aging creams now!
  • The temperature here is -6 degrees.  I'm not bringing these babies out, but instead of getting things caught up around the house, I'm getting caught up with my favorite blogs!
  • Yesterday, I bought more 'sposies...it's pretty much the way we do diapers around this house...maybe permanently.  Earth mama FAIL.

I'm sure lots of celebs are friendly, but this photo makes me an even bigger fan of SJP!

Sees ya' later, Terrible Twos!

Though I have heard that three can be even more challenging because they know more and are just more aware of their surroundings...so we'll see!

Today we are frosting Scarlett's ice cream cone cupcakes...wish me luck!  Tonight we are celebrating with Alyssa and doing her big cake...tomorrow will be full of birthday fun and (hopefully!) delicious dessert for the birthday girl!

In other news...I found this gem a few days ago.  The "love" that Scarlett shows Poppy runs in the family.  Here is Alyssa Lou showing baby Scarjo some "love" of her own!

St. Patrick's Day 2010
And then I started looking through her baby pictures...
Katie Scarlett at 11 months -- fun age!  And I get to do it all over again...!

Lulu's 1st birthday doughnuts!  (She was sassy even at 20 months!)
Two years old

I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.  Or how big my Scarlett is now...makes me sad and happy!

Not the best picture, but I just love that Poppy is looking at Scarlett!

Big girls!  Lulu and Scarjo!

A few randoms that I took for our Christmas cards...not a professional, clearly!  ;)

Scarlett's eyes were so green when she was little.  I love their chocolate brown color now!

I have babies to nurse...Poppy just woke up!  Looking back at all of these pictures makes me want to squeeze these girls and keep them little forever!  What will I do when they go off to college...or even KINDERGARTEN!  I can't even think about it now.

Happy Birthday Eve, my sassy SJ!

Happy New Year...a bit late!

Well, I've been such a blog slacker lately!  I haven't even been reading even my favorite blogs -- and as much as I've missed them -- I just haven't been able to sit and concentrate enough to get into it again!  Scarlett is always there because I have been falling and staying asleep every night so far this year.  2013 has been great on sleep, but not so great on free time!

Though, tonight, I'm totally switching it up; Downton Abbey is BACK!  Yesssss!  You have no idea how excited Tyler I am about this!

But back to my blog...it needs some updating, so here we go:

Scarlett is about to turn THREE in less than two weeks.  She's pretty much a rockstar toddler!  Right now she is obsessed with Dr. Jean, especially Tooty Ta.  All. the. time.  I am actually excited about this new obsession; it brings me back to my days spent in kindergarten classrooms!

Scarlett is still high maintenance in that she needs me for nothing, but WANTS me for everything.  Getting dressed?  Has been doing it herself for weeks, but suddenly would rather have me dress her.  Picking up her toys?  Needs "help."  Going potty?  About 50% of the time, she calls to me to either put her seat on the toilet or to turn on the light.  All of these things have been mastered, but she has apparently forgotten that she's a big girl.  A-NNOY-ING.  Mostly.  Sometimes it is fun to be "needed" by her again!

Now that Scarlett is almost three, she is starting to fit into 3T clothing.  I never thought that'd happen; she's been a size 24m/2T for so long!  Her feet are still a size 7.  Yay for hand-me-downs from Lulu!

I do let her watch PBS, especially if she is being extra annoying.  (Am I allowed to call my own darling daughter annoying?)  I feel harsh, but sometimes I just need a minute to think straight or do my make up!  She only watches Daniel Tigers' Neighborhood and Sesame Street -- and she loves them!

I am excited for SPRING when we can just let the little ones (Alyssa, Lulu, Scarlett!) run crazy outside -- being cooped up is a bummer!  Thank goodness we have the library, toddler time, and "school" for me Scarlett to get out of the house!

In addition to those fun activities, Scarlett really enjoys playing with her babies!  All of them!  At once.  She really is Angelina Jolie in the making!

Her favorite baby!

She's such a good mummy to her babies and an even better big sister to Poppy Ballerina!  Her "love" is a bit rough sometimes, but she really does care for her baby sister and Poppy can't get enough of watching Scarlett everywhere she goes!  It makes me happy that they love each other already -- I hope it lasts through their childhood!

Fancy tutus for Grammum's birthday!

Poppy is still an angelbaby!  She is already TWO months old and becoming so alert!  She loves to "talk" and just absorb her surroundings.  Her sleeping pattern is really 80% sleep and 20% happy, smiling baby!  Poppy is just amazing and very little work on my part!  Now I absolutely want at least one more...!  Tyler is slowly getting on board!  ;)

Less smiley here...!

Happy New Year!  I'm actually just hoping that 2013 brings more of the same; 2012 was such a great year!
