Valentine's Day this year...

I know, Valentine's Day was two weeks ago, but I have to update you on what an absolute FAIL it was this year.  Absolutely void of any romance -- and it wasn't all Tyler's fault!

Good thing we have babies to do Vday justice!  ;)  I think because Tyler is a rockstar husband all of the other days, I assumed that he'd just get it.  He didn't.  I mean, Valentine's Day is not about the gifts, it is about showing the ones you love how much you care for them.  You want your loved ones to feel loved.

For Tyler, I bought him a nalgene bottle.  He needed one, but would never go out about buy one that wasn't a dollar at Walmart, so I went onto Amazon (love!) and found a cool color and had it shipped here ASAP!  (Okay, so I wasn't super-prepared this year!)  ;)

It wasn't fancy, but I filled it with festive m&m's.  Fun!  (I really wanted to buy personalized m&m's, but Mary talked me out of that $80 purchase, "Tyler does not care what the m&m's look like when he is just going to eat them!"  Good call.

So the night before, I set up all the goodies for Tyler, Scarlett, and Poppy:

Favorite child?!  Not really...Poppy was only 3 months!  She won't know any better!
I went to bed thinking about the fun day ahead and how excited and curious I was about the gift Tyler had brought home for me because Mary had been talking it up big time!  I knew that there wouldn't be lots of lovey-dovey romance because Tyler had to work all day and we have a million babies, but I was still looking forward to a fun-filled day!

We all woke up and went downstairs to our their gifts...tradition in our family is you wake up to fun surprises that make you happy all day.  There may be a special dinner later, but vday festivities happen in the morning!  (We've been doing this for my whole childhood and the ten years that Tyler and I have been together!)

After looking over all their treasures, Tyler whips out some Palmer chocolates (that his company had given him!  I found that out later...blech.) and a card from Scarlett.  Sweet!

Then he ran upstairs... *I was feeling giddy!!!*

And brought back down a new cell phone.  Another new cell phone since that was my Christmas gift also...that he planned on inheriting after I set up my new cell.  Huh.

Thoughtful ish because it has Windows 8, which I love, but still...where are my flowers & (real) chocolates??!  Men!  He thought he had rocked it.  So that was sweet...and a little sad for him when I wasn't jumping up and down.

Luckily, my mom really did rock it out for me:

Yesssss!  ;)

So that was my Valentine's Day 2013...not really a fail, but I didn't feel special.  THAT is what was missing.

It was really not great for Tyler either...he was working as himself and doing the work of his boss while his boss was away, so he didn't get home until 7:30 and didn't stop working until 11:30.  That part was a major fail.

On a happier note:

We had a photographer come to our cupcake decorating fiesta at my mom's house -- wicked fun!  There was also a dance party!  We had just a group of little girls dancing and playing and eating yummies -- best little girl Valentine's Day for sure!!!

All of the pictures are fantastic, but here is my favorite...

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday
  • I'm so funny in middle of the night while I nurse Poppy and think of all the things that I want to blog about...I just wish I could remember them the next morning!
  • Making sure that I posted about Scarlett's third birthday was important to me -- fixing the red eye was less of a big deal.  Clearly.
  • Scarlett wore tights for two days in a row because she didn't have any clean socks.
  • I use Kcups and 'Sposies.  I dabble in cloth diapers and reusable filters because the guilt is killing me!
  • I am itching to get out of this house.  Like DY-ING.  First, Tyler needs to get the job he applied for last week...fingers crossed!
  • After being a fashionable lady forever, I went and had babies, and now I don't even know what's in!  I've been window shopping online and I've decided that it all starts with the skinny jean!  That has to happen...asap.
  • Who needs a doctor when you have webMD?!  I have self-diagnosed myself with rosacea, wonky hormones after pregnancy (I'm losing my eyebrow -- just one of them!), and maaaybe lupus!  (Did I mention my eyebrow is disappearing?!)
  • I facebook stalk myself, so I always want to put up my latest pictures, but then I feel cheesy posting so many at once...and then I think about putting them up privately, but what fun is that?!  The real dilemmas of my life as a SAHM.  ;)
  • Valentine's Day is coming!!!  I have Scarlett and (mostly) Poppy taken care of gift-wise, but then the next day is Tyler's 31st birthday...I am clueless as to what to get for him!  Wife FAIL.

Poppy Ballerina

Poppy is THREE months old.  Already.  But what a fun three months it has been...!  She is just full of chatter and smiles; Poppy makes lots of mom friends at Scarlett's morning play group!  We have her 3 month check up this Friday; I can't wait to see how much she has grown (though I could do without the shots:/)!!!  She definitely looks so different from last month...

Oooh, sweetness!!!  I just love her!

My morning with Scarlett

While getting dressed, in between putting her undies and pants on, Scarlett took a break to make "lunch" at her kitchen.  She brought me my "lunch" that consisted of her princess cell phone on a plate.  I picked it up and pretended to eat it and said, "Mmmmm!!!!"

She looked at me like I was a complete fool and said, "because it's my cell phone," and took it back.

The look of disgust and the matter-of-fact tone sent me into a hysterical fit of laughter!  So, of course, she repeated, "because it's my cell phone," over and over again for the next 15 minutes...

Three-year-olds are FUN!

We're excited for Valentine's Day around these parts!
