It's Official

As if it wasn't already enough that high heels seems ridiculous to wear during my everyday life, I constantly have baby boogs somewhere on my clothing, and my favorite summer activity is sunbathing watching naked babies play in the driveway puddle, but now I scan playgrounds for other mothers I may know.  If my first scan is unsuccessful, I check for other toddlers who look like they're Scarlett's age because if there are any potential future playdates, we stop to play during my walking loop.  Yup, scanning the playground for friends = officially a MOM.

Oh well, at least she's cute.  Ha!

Blogging FAIL

Ahhh!  It's been forever and a day since I've blogged and I blame Mary.  She moved here with my favorite little 8 month old niece a little over a week ago and I haven't blogged since.  Lots has happened recently, too!  Alyssa turned THREE!  Scarlett turned 16 months and is officially learning new tricks hourly.  More on that later(whaaat?!  I'm ex-haust-ed and I'm uploading/editing boat-loads of pictures of baby biscuits & bows!), but I'll leave you with this picture of my crazy sister, Molly.  We're the Beal sisters and we are always blonde together (Mary strays once in a while) and then Molly went and did this:

Not quite sure how I feel about this yet, but she's so pretty that I feel like she can pull of any hair color.  Super sassy red!

This is great.

{source}
I am loving this, but there are a few key things that are missing.

I'd add:

11.  Exercise
12.  Drink copious amounts of caffeine
13.  (and my mom would for sure add): "Volunteer."

What I do need to start doing more of?  Dress nicely.  Gym clothes have become my everyday norm.  Not good.

Smushpants

Fair warning, I am feeling smushy!  My poor little Scarlett has her first ever stomach bug AND a fever; it makes me so sad.  She has been vomiting all day and all last night (changing the sheets twice at 1 and 2am is not fun!) and has been super-clingy (which I kind of love!).  Well, after she was sick all over everything this afternoon, I plopped her into a warm bath and dressed her in comfy clothes.  Since she had already had a bath and hadn't been sick again, I decided to skip bath time this evening.  Now I was a different story; we had clean sheets, so it was a must that I have a shower before slipping into bed!  Well, Scarlett was so sick and I wanted to make her the most comfortable, so I stripped her down and let her air her biscuits while I showered.  As I rinsed off, Scarlett started to cry and seemed really uncomfortable, so I scooped her up and brought her into the shower with me.  We just snuggled and let the water run over us.  She played with the water on my arm and rested her cheek on my shoulder.  The whole time, I was telling mself to just remember this moment because pretty soon she'll be running off to Colby college.  It makes me so sad to think about that Scarlett is getting older, but I do love how much more fun and inquisitive she becomes!  So I'm feeling smushy because I just am loving how lovey Scarlett has been and I feel so worried when she's sick.

On a side note, I baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies today.  Wicked fail!  I have no idea why the recipe didn't call for flour, but it made the cookes too chewy/burned when I forgot to take them out of the oven.  Hate it when that happens!

I'm hoping that tomorrow brings healthy babies, a fun aerobics class, strong coffee, and lots of cleaning to get ready for Mary & Louisa!!!!

Happy Mother's Day

Me and Mum at Mary's college graduation!  (2006)
I hope everyone is enjoying their Mother's Day!  Scarlett and I are spending the day outside in the sunshine with Molly & Alyssa...and then we're going to Governor's for some treats!  Happy Mother's Day!

So What Wednesday

Go link up!

Today, I'm saying SO WHAT if...

  • I'm really enjoying my free time at night.  Tyler is in Alabama for work and I have the house to myself!
  • Sometimes I don't make it to the gym simply because I don't have anything to wear.  I swear finding cute enough clothes that are still comfy is the worst part!  If I had someone who would just dress me, I'd be WAY more likely to actually get to the gym on those days when I'm not really feeling it.
  • I ate french fries dipped in a chocolate shake for dinner.  Right after the gym confession this seems lots more scandalous!  (Hey, it cuts calories because there was no dessert!)
  • My roots are inches long...I have a hair appointment to rectify the situation soon!
  • I love Scarlett's sassy looks!  Really, I should be discouraging them, but they crack me up!
  • While having the house to myself has been a party every night, I do get wicked freaked out by any small noise.  I'm definitely not used to being alone!
  • Rob Lowe and Shania Twain both have books out that I MUST read!  (Clearly, I've been watching too many talk shows to know about them.)
  • Oh!  A highlight of my day was learning that Ulta will be carrying Butter London nail polish!!!  Yes!  (Don't worry, No More Waity, Katie, was on my toes as I watched the Royal Wedding and festivities at 4am!)
  • I'll be SO all set if Tyler watches The Voice without me while he's away, buuuut, I may have already sneaked a peek!

Cannot. Get. Enough.

I want to be her friend.

This is a little ebarrassing to admit, but I'll go ahead and say it: I am obsessed with the Royal Wedding and everything British.  Now you may find yourself asking, "whaaat, the wedding was last week?!"  I know, I know, but my dvr is still FULL of wedding programs and I must watch them all.  From the secret whispers between Prince Harry and William to the juicy after-party deets...I want to know everything.  Was Chelsy Harry's plus one, really?  What about Pippa, I thought she and Harry had chemistry...maybe there's another Wales/Middleton union in the future?!  (I'm totally on Team Pippa.) What did Harry say in his speech?!  I may be sliiightly jealous that I am not the new Duchess of Cambridge, but shhhI'm also quite fascinated by the fact that Kate Middleton managed to pull off a flawless appearence; she made literally no mistakes

Anyway, I'm rambling now, and there are far more important things going around in the world, but I can't help, but spend my free time during naps & nighttime to get all caught up on any deets the press has been able to scrounge around and get from the insiders.  I've also been considering naming my next daughter, Catherine, but I'm afraid that won't work because I already have a Katie, right?  Maybe Diana?!  We'll see...!

Now I do truly at least want to visit Great Britain to stalk the new Duke and Duchess go sightseeing & really just to hear that accent all over!!  Delightful!  And Mary and I have decided that fascinators are absolutely going to be a part of our wardrobes from now on.  How did fancy hats and fascinators not catch on in America?!  Just another reason why I belong in London.

Obviously, I was most excited to see THE DRESS.  Now I remember my first reaction when I saw Kate Middleton step out of the car; underwhelmed.  I think I felt underwhelmed by the dress's modesty because I didn't fully realize the properness that was expected of Kate's choice.  I knew that she had to have her shoulders covered, but I still wanted girly, frills!  I guess that's just not her style.  The more I look at pictures of the Duchess, the more I love it!  She looked amazing, even though she was just a bit tame for my taste!
