Why?? (Baby 2's name)

Poppy Ballerina Smith

Now here's the back story!

It started with Alyssa's name, Alyssa Kristina.  You'd never know that her middle name is Kristina if you're around my family ever because we always call her "Alyssa Louisiana."  It started from the very beginning and just stuck.

So when it came to naming baby 2, I started with naming her Poppy Marilyn.  Our last name is Smith, so her initials would have been PMS.  I was still okay with it -- she'll get married eventually!  But then Mary started calling her "Poppy Ballerina."  After a few days of hearing it, I decided that her middle name should be "Ballerina."  It's a girly, pretty sounding name and if is anything like "Alyssa Louisiana," it was going to stick whether I embraced it or not!  An added bonus??  The fun, craziness fits our family!

Tyler was easy to convince because he was happy that I'd moved on from Meggie Monroe, but as we got closer to her due date, he started having nightmares second thoughts!  At that point, it was a done deal, though!

So Poppy Ballerina is the name -- I had fun choosing her name!  I also love it because naming babies is so fun -- when else do you have such power a big decision to make that effects someone for their entire life?!

HELP!

I am obsessed with naming baby girl #2, but how do I compete with the awesomeness on Katie Scarlett?!  Prudence was my first choice, but if my name were Prudence and I had a sister named Scarlett, I would hate my mother!  Now that leaves me with my back-up names; Marilyn and Francesca "Frankie."  Now I'm not in love with either of these names, so I'm back to spending my free time searching nameberry.com instead of working on Tyler's resume.  So far I've come up these names:

Cecelia
Lavinia
Georgina "Georgie"
Gemma
Lucy
Cornelia
Posey

...and that's pretty much it.  I just need help with a first name that goes well with Belle!  That's going to be her middle name.  (I'm pretty sure, at least!)  We're thinking Belle will be perfect because Scarlett wants us to name her "Princess Belle" after her favorite princess, so we're just making Belle the middle name.  And it has to go well with Scarlett.

So are there any suggestions out there?!?!

Nameberry = my bestie!

So, Scarlett and I went to our first monthly appointment yesterday afternoon to hear baby 2's heartbeat!  It was really there, so I guess baby 2 is for real!  Now that my sickness has gotten better, my symptoms seem to have disappeared, so the fact that I'm pregnant still seems surreal.  But there was a heartbeat!  It was beating 150 bpm...seem in the higher range to you?!  My first sign that it could be a girl!  But we'll see...!

When I found out that Scarlett was a girl, I knew immediately that her name would be Katie Scarlett, but with baby 2, I've turned to nameberry.com to help me out.  I have a few names that I love.  Tyler's already vetoed my favorite, but lucky for me, his vetoes don't count!  ;)

Okay, here we go, I'm spilling the names early, but who really knows what we'll end up going with.  Here are my favorites for a baby girl...

  1. Prudence.  I am in love with this name!  To me, it's classy, clean-cut, and different.  (Tyler hates it.)  Pru is the sweetest nickname.  It means "caution" but I clearly don't choose names for their meanings; Scarlett means "red."  Also, I don't know any other people named Prudence; this is huge for me!
  2. Vivien Leigh.  Um, hello, how perfect does that go with Katie Scarlett?!  Can we say I'm juuust a little obsessed with Gone with the Wind?! Yes.
  3. Marilyn.  I have been in love with Marilyn Monroe since forever.  If I choose to name baby 2 Marilyn, it will be very tempting not to just name her Marilyn Monroe Smith; it has a nice ring to it!
So far I have a few names that I feel lukewarm about.  Boys names are hard.  (Anything will be better than "Hawkins."  Yikes, what were Tony and Candace thinking?!)   Obviously, I love the name "Maximilian" after my brother, even though at the moment he is not exactly uncle of the year.  Here are a couple others...

  1. Theodore.  Theo is a cute nickname.
  2. Frankie.  This is actually my favorite boy name!  I might name him "Francis," but will for sure use the nickname, "Frankie."  Cute!
And that's all I've been considering so far...I really can't wait to find out the sex.  I think it'll be sometime in June...only 8 more weeks!
