Newness!!!

HAPPY JULY!  There are lots of new things going on around here...

  1. Tyler surprised me with a new laptop when he returned from his work trip in Colorado!!!  Woohoo!  I'm loving how light and CLEAN it is.  I always swear that I'll keep it all fresh & new, but it never stays that way.  You should see the crude on my old key board!  Ew.  Now I just need to figure out how to transfer all of my photos...I bought my old laptop a few months before Scarlett was born, so every picture of her is on it.
  2. I'm about to enter my last year in my 20's!!!  I'm feeling excited for my thirties, but maybe that's because I still have a year buffer!
  3. Mary and Louisa are thinking of moving out on their own.  This is happy news and sad news at the same time.  I'm PSYCHED to be able to do my make-up while Scarlett plays in the playroom without having to play interference to two toddlers fighting.  That will be awesome!  Buuuuut, I'm sad that Scarlett and Lulu won't be living like sisters.  Luckily, Mary's not moving more than 10 minutes away, so we'll be doing playdates constantly!  (I keep hitting this ~ instead of ! and it's driving me crazy!!!)  Anyway...so that's a change that is coming soon-ish.
  4. The new rule in my house:  SCARLETT IS NOT GOING TO GRAMMUM'S WITHOUT A NAP!  EVER.  That should solve the monsterbaby-ness and maybe Grammum will start to like Scarlett again after her afternoon from hell!  Smart thinking on my part, I think!
  5. I'm getting excited for baby 2!  It's less scary now that Mary's moving out because there will be less chaos instantly.  That will help, but really I'm way less worried because now Mary will have a place to bring Scarlett to play where she'll feel comfortable while I nap with baby 2!!!  Score!
  6. My hair is BLONDE!!!  Like, blonde blonde!  I am more blonde than I have been in years and I love it!  Though I will admit...I desperately need violet shampoo!
Now here is the latest from my crazy Scarjo:

She was posing for Auntie Mary...this was her craziest pose, so naturally Mary had to post it on FB!

Just Another Thursday in the 'Ville.

Okay, let me preface this with explaining that Tyler, the man with two jobs, is on vacation this week.  After cleaning out the garage, he was planning on relaxing and playing Madden...until I kindly reminded him that he has a one-year-old and a tiiired wife who wants to sleep in and have help taking care of Scarjo.  Sads for Tyler, but Mary and I were pretty much loving the idea of spending our Thursday afternoon perusing the aisles at Target.  (Did you know they have Missoni baby flats?!)  So Tyler, trying to be a good sport, climbed on into the Escape and came with us on our shopping spree to help with the babies!

While we were at Target, we ran into old co-workers and their super-cute (not as grumpy as Scarlett) babies, walked around in said Missoni flats, and stocked up on strawberry-filled panda cookies that Alyssa loves (and are only $1!), but then Scarjo started to lose her S-H-I-T.  Sooo...

We left Target, ate fried pickles at Texas Roadhouse, and then we went to THE CHRISTMAS TREE SHOP!!!  So. much. fun.  They have everything!  While we stocked up on crazy brand-named deep conditioner, discontinued best ever mascara (FYI, I paid $2.99 for mine.  F.), and mats for Tyler's wet boots, Scarjo walked around the store trying to apply men's deodorant.  It's her new thing; she witnessed me applying spray deodorant and has made it her everyday ritual since!  So strange.  (and hilarious!)  Luckily, the deo had the protective shield on it, so she didn't reek like a man all day.  Scarjo also noticed a rack of "shoes" and proceeded to sit in the aisle, take off her own shoe, and try to stick her foot into the "shoes" that she had discovered.  Those "shoes" happened to be doggies' chew toy shaped as shoes.  Smartest Funniest baby ever!

Second most entertaining Scarjo move of the afternoon was when she requested the hand mirror while sitting in her car seat eating her toddler Mum-mum.  I look back and this is what I witnessed:

Oh yes, she is watching herself eat in the mirror
Fruitcake baby!

The MOST entertaining Scarjo moment was probably so awesome because I am her mother, but still...the whole way home she fed her baby it's bottle and gave it love.  Cutie-cutes!

Clearly unfazed by the screaming "Nene" sitting a foot away from her!
So SWEET!

Yeah, it was a pretty fun day for me and the roomies!  We ended it with sleeping babies (who skipped their baths and went to sleep quickly), revisiting fun purchases as we put everything away, and a large-ish glass of wine with Molly.

Apple farm & open swim are on the agenda for tomorrow...I'm already excited!

Ba-BAM! Two in a Row, Ladies!

Sooo, I've been busy this summer/haven't been in the mood for blogging.  I'm not really sure why.  It's not for lack of material; Scarjo is doing so many new and fun things!  I swear every new month kills me because she's becoming less and less MY baby, but also I love it because she is just becoming more and more A-MAZ-ING!  I know it's super-cliche to say that it keeps getting better and better, but it's absolutely the truth.

Now we're in month NINETEEN.  Ahhh!  Scarlett is talking up a storm, beginning to potty train, aaaand I'm trying to wean her.  (I know, she's a billion years old, cannot believe I'm STILL nursing!)  I just love it and it's a comfort to her/she insists on it, so there you are.  I have no idea how I'm actually going to follow through with weaning at this point.  We do "fake" nursing (don't even ask!) for comfort when she wakes up in the middle of the night (oh, yes, she's still sleeping with us, too!)  and she's starting to catch on to that, so I'm at a lose as to what to do!  I know I could cold turkey her, but that just doesn't fit our family.  So, as of this afternoon naptime, we're still nursing to fall asleep.  (So much for her being less of my baby, huh?!  Ha!)

A fun game we like to play with Scarlett is to make her say the names of all our family members to hear her cute pronunciation.  Here are our favorites:

Mummy/Mummysssss  (Me)  I cheer everytime she says it -- I cannot hear it enough!  We're working on, "Mummy, I love you!"  Hehehe!
Daaaaa! (Tyler)  I blame Mary.
Mam-wee (Mary)
Mom-meee (Molly)
Naanaa (Lulu)  Those L's are tricky!
Bra-neee (Brian)
Grammie (Grammum)  Watch out, Nancy, MA is taking over Grammie...and not even on purpose!
And "Alyssa" is just a bunch of sounds, it's different every time Scarjo tries to say it.

Scarjo is the most fun!  I cannot believe I forgot to post this video.  Enjoy her hilariousness!!!

(Sorry about it's crookedness...totally blame Tyler.)  This was in June, her dance moves are getting even better, if you can believe it.

New Roomies!

My sister, Mary, and niece, Louisa, have been living with us for a few months now. Life has certainly changed lots, so here are a few things I've learned/discovered/been introduced to since May:
  • When you say, "girlfriend," it's like an exclamation mark to your comment. Here's an example: "Thanks for sweeping, girlfriend!" See! Way more fun.
  • Spend the extra moolah on makeup, especially from Sephora because they send you lots of fun, free goodies!
  • I've been introduced this blog. It makes me so sad, but so thankful for my little miss Scarlett.
  • Um, Running off the Reese's and Suri's Burn Book kind of rock my world. Hilarious & fun stuff!
  • Big Brother is cheeesy and a waste of my free (nap) time. Buuut I cannot resist! I love me some Jeff&Jordan!
  • I make her wait for me to finish getting ready before we get out of the house 25% of the time (so she says), so I hurried today and left the house with a scandalous dress to wear to a family dessert soiree. I have learned NOT to trust Mary's judgement when we're running late. Ever.
  • No matter the project, she will be sick of working on it before it's finished.  We call it Project ADD! To be fair, she's either entertaining the babies or starting our new house renovation adventure...!
  • She's a lot nicer after a glass of wine. But really, who isn't?!
  • 'Sposies are fun!  They're way less bulky than my cloth diapers, so it's fun to see Scarlett wearing 'sposies once in a while.
  • Counting calories is annoying & lame, most days.
  • Starbucks iced coffees really are more special if you don't have them every day. I look forward to our Starbucks Sundays all week...!
  • Having a roomy there 24/7 is entertainment for Scarjo always.  Works for me!
  • Mary has better clothes than me and they're most awesome when stolen.
  • Her makeup is also more fun and the best to steal!
  • I always have a partner when I feel like shopping...!
