Girls' Day!

Since Poppy has been born, Scarlett has really never been jealous until recently.  She loved Poppy and really enjoyed going to her regular events with Tyler when we were first home from the hospital.  Even after Tyler went to work, Scarlett never acted out or seemed to resent Poppy's need for my attention.  But a few weeks ago, I noticed that she would whine or need be held whenever I was holding or feeding Poppy.  (Annoying!) But to try and restore Scarlett's relationship with me and confidence of her place in our family, I decided to take time with just her.  Tyler had a couple days off, so I took advantage of it, and Scarlett and I were off to get mani/pedis!  Her choice!  I gave her a bunch of options and that's what she wanted to do.  Score for me!

It was much-needed and did a lot to repair any hurt feelings that she may have had!  Now I just need to make a point to do this more often...!  So much fun!

The rest of the day was a blast, too!  Tyler works so much that he misses out on Scarlett's activities, so it was a treat to have him help with the ladies around!

What to do,what to do...

I don't even know what to do with myself!  I dropped Scarlett off at school this morning (she just started one day each week!), went through the Dunkin' Donuts drive thru*, and came home to feed Poppy when I turned my ankle and heard that tell-tale POP from my foot.  AGAIN. (Same dang injury for the third time in the last nine months!)  So, because I'm broken, my mom is picking up Scarlett after school and taking her back to her house!  I'm able to hobble around, so I will still be snagging Mary from her work at 5pm and heading out for our night of fun, but until then, I have nothing to do.  Well, laundry and dishes, but no Scarlett.  So weird.  And a little freeing!  (Why did I think one baby was so much work the first time around?!)  I guess I'll just have to blog...!!!  ;-)

Yesterday...we were at home, bored, and that's when Scarlett decided to do my hair.  This happens lots and I love it!  It feels amazing and she can't push the detangler yet, so my hair ends up fluffed out a little, but no biggie.  And then Scarlett discovered the comb.  She twirled and twisted that thing so tight in my hair.

I was starting to realize it was REALLY stuck.

After about fifteen minutes, and the comb hadn't budged, I turned to Tyler and let him have a try.  That was just a bunch of pulling a hurt lots!

After Tyler was unsuccessful, we all drove to Mary's, hoping that she could work some magic.  Didn't happen.  So she busted out the scissors...

There is a lot less hair on the left side of my head, but you really can't tell.  I definitely learned my less, though!  Wide-toothed combs for Scarjo from now on!


*Went to DD for a quick iced coffee because Poppy was getting fussy and I knew that I wouldn't have time to make coffee before she was full-on freaking.  I ordered a large iced coffee, milk and 4 splenda.  Well...there was a medium sitting there at the window.  When they realized it was the wrong size, the girl took a large cup, added ice, and then poured the medium coffee in to the large cup.  Such a rip-off.

She gets a little crazy about her teether cookie!  If she drops it and we don't instantly get it into her hand, Poppy has a wicked freak out.  I think it is a combination of the fact that it's a new flavor and she is really teething now, so it feels good.  Her groans can get out of control pretty quickly, so that's why I always hesitate to even hand over the cookie, but as annoying as they are, I had to record it!

Next up for documentation...her pterodactyl cries!  Get excited.

What's up with me?  Well, here ya' go!

Current book(s):  Well, Shannon wrote about how she was reading Gone Girl, so I went to order it on amazon and accidentally ordered Dark Places by the same author.  It was fantastic.  A little dark and creepy for me (I couldn't read it right before I fell asleep!), but I still loved it.  It made me catch the reading bug, so I went to a book sale with the little ones and my mom and stocked up on tons of older books, left them in the jeep and  then found A Time to Kill on my headboard.  I'm on the 4th chapter and it is addicting!  And chilling.  I'm still planning on Gone Girl, though!

Current playlist:  Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are rocking my world!  Love, love, love their energy and enthusiasm about their music.  They're coming to Colby next month and Tyler is dy-ing to go, but I'm pretty sure that's not going happen.  Babysitters and nursing and being 30 (ish) at a concert full of teens and early twenty-sonethings make it seem unlikely...sads.  Other artists on my playlist lately are Bruno Mars (always.) and ZZ Ward.  She is a new fave that Mary discovered.  It took me about six months to get on board, but I'm there and loving her!

Current color:  Hmmm...well, I tried to rock mint nails.  That was a fail.  So I'm going to go with Snakebite, my favorite eye shadow in my Naked palette 2!  Love!

Current food:  Two words: pad thai.  I cannot get enough!  And the added bonus of using chop sticks makes it even more irresistible!  

Current show(s):  I'm ashamed to say this, but RHOBH is so addicting this season.  Sees ya' Adrienne!  

Current needs:  I am in desperate need of a new Spring purse.  I'm still rocking my 'Frankly Scarlet' Vera Bradley.  It's time.

Current triumphs:  I called my father in law when his mother passed away.  It was really difficult for me to do because I'm horrible and awkward in those types of situations, but I knew it was the right thing to do.  I felt so great about calling once we got off the phone!

Current banes of my existence:  How horrible would I be if I said my MIL?!  ;-)  Pretty horrible, right?!  Well, I am just nervous because Tyler's whole family is coming to my mom's for Easter and they have already called Tyler to make requests about the day that I'm not comfortable with.  So, yeah, she wins this title!

Current celebrity crush:  Jessica Alba.  She's just full of awesomeness!  Since her book is coming out soon (or already has?!), she has been on all my talk shows.  She makes me want to drink green smoothies.

Current #1 blessing:  I mean, obviously Scarlett, Poppy, and my family!  The other night I was trying to explain to Tyler how it feels for me since they're getting older, "You know how you want to squeeze a soft, fuzzy kitten so much?  Well, I want to do that, but emotionally, to the girls.  I want them to know how much I love them."  I think he got it.  

Current indulgence:  Like, currently, currently??  Moscato.  Mmmm!  

Current outfit:  Ahhh, okay, I admit it, I'm still rockin' the maternity jeans.  I can't stop.  I have plenty of (post-pregnancy sized) skinny jeans, but that elastic waistband is just too comfy to quit!  They're like wearing yoga pants, but dressy.  But, when I'm not sporting the maternity jeans, I put on skinny jeans, ballet flats, and a nice, flattering top.  Sometimes a scarf.  Casual, but trendy enough.  

Current excitement:  EASTER!!!  That morning is going to be so fun to watch Scarlett!!!  And then we get to dress up and head to my mom's for brunch!

Current mood:  Excited!  I'm excited for the holiday weekend, having Tyler home for the majority of it (hello, tanning!), and to hear about Tyler's job opportunities!!

Current wishlist item:  Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in bahama, but I'm waiting until the Fall.  It seems like the perfect color for cooler weather!  

Current favorite product:  Infantino Swift Classic Carrier.  With Scarlett, the Ergo was perfect because she always loved to be snuggled right up to me, but Poppy won't have any of that!  So after struggling with the Moby Wrap and the Ergo, on a whim, I purchased the Infantino carrier and she has lived in it ever since!  Life saver!  

I'm still here!!!

Life has been going so well, but the time change definitely threw us for a loop!  We're still recovering.  Just as I was typing my title, I heard the frantic cries of my littlest lady.  Story of my life lately.  We had the bedtime thing down, but now that it is so light out, we get tricked into thinking it's earlier than it really is and end up getting the girls to sleep at 8pm instead of 6:45pm, their bedtime pre spring forward.  Now that rocked my world; free time without going to bed at midnight!  Slowly, we're creeping our way back to the regular bedtime, but it's taking longer than I had anticipated.

So here I am with Poppy and my freshly poured glass of Moscato.  Shoot.

And this lady is officially in preschool!  She only goes one day a week for about five hours, but that's about all I can handle at this point!  Scarlett loves her teacher and Alyssa goes to the same school/day care after pre-k, so it is a perfect fit!  Such a big, big girl!
