Just one of the perks...that baby smell!

My baby is delicious! I'm sitting here nursing Scarlett as she sleeps all snuggled up in her quilt. I keep getting yummy wafts of baby-ness; baby powder, vanilla teether cookie, and apple juice all mixed together...Mmmm! There are no words to describe just how heavenly it smells. ♥

Bananas!!!

Scarlett tried bananas this evening! No pictures, but she reacted about the same way as she did the first time she had rice cereal...you can imagine her face! I'm bummed that Scarlett is not loving fruit! I skipped the rest of veggies, so that I could get to the good stuff, but after trying blueberries, watermelon, and bananas (& Grammum may have snuck a MUNCHKIN to Scarlett while I wasn't looking!), it seems that she is content on living off of breast milk forever!!! Secretly, that makes me happy--I'm enjoying nursing while I can! :)

Fun was had by all, but mostly Alyssa! She was really excited that it was, "Auntie Heg's birthday!" and was the center of attention for the day! (As it should be!) Look at her eyeing my cake...she definitely blew out all 27 candles by herself! I loved my cake the best though...

Along with blowing out my candles, Alyssa also assisted in opening some (all!) of my presents. Such a great helper...until she starts to give the presents to Grammum...

This was by far my best birthday yet...!

And tonight is a big night for Scarlett...she is sleeping in her bassinet with a pacifier instead of in bed with us. We'll see how it goes, but I'm already sad about not sleeping and snuggling with her all night!!! Maybe we'll put off moving into the bassinet for good for a few more months...!

Happy July!

Now that it's July, that means Mary's due with my niece next month! Woohoo! And that leaves me time to send more baby clothes for Louisa!!!! Apparently Scarlett's feet have tripled in size since the last time she wore shoes, so get excited, Louisa Margaret. Just sayin'--that has a nice ring to it! Or Louisa Meggie. Did you hear about the little girl named Meggie Maisie Lady Gaga???!!! Hilar! And I kind of love it! Anyway, I went to choose which shoes she will be wearing with her party dress on my birthday and NONE of her little, silver ballet flats fit! (Yes, she has a number of pairs of little, silver ballet flats...and yes, I have already picked out what she will wear for my birthday!!! I'm turning 27, but age doesn't make birthdays any less of a big deal in our family!) Back to Scarlett's shoe issue...I guess that she will just be wearing frilly socks with her pretty, pink party dress next Tuesday. Babies don't really need shoes anyway...although I can't wait until she fits in her little jellies from Alyssa...!

It's been pretty uneventful here in the 'Ville; just lots of Alyssa fun and Scarlett giggles! Alyssa figured out that every time she brushes her hair against Scarlett's skin, Scarlett laughs non-stop, so that's just what Alyssa did all evening! So much fun to watch them starting to be able to play together! Alyssa still thinks Scarlett is broken because she can't walk or eat real food. What good is she then?!?!?!

I'm exhausted, but Scarlett is sound asleep upstairs and I'm giddy with excitement that I have a few moments to myself without a baby sleeping on my lap...now what to do! Should I go to bed and get some much-needed sleep OR should I facebook my night away...hmmm!
