So What Wednesday!

This week I'm saying So What! if:
  • I am only just now realizing that I am the worst at straightening my hair.  Thank you, Mary, for being my personal hairdresser from now on!  (You were right, my hair was bad.)  This picture brought home to me just how terrible my hair was...

BAD hair.  (Good picture by Sweet Life Memories)

  • I bought Tyler fancy beer glasses made from recycled windshield glass (he works for an auto insurance company and sees lots of broken cars, so I thought the windshield glass was a neat touch!) and he uses our old mugs that we've had for years!  I might just lose those...
  • I am a terrible blogger when I have things on my mind; the last few posts have been total fillers.  :/
  • Sick Scarlett is kind of fun for me.  EEEK!  I know, that's terrible!  It makes me sad when she doesn't feel well, but I'm loooving her snuggles!!!  They're the best!  And she only wants me!
  • One floor of this house always needs to be swept.  Actually, that one kind of bothers me, but I have more important things to do...like blog!  ;)
  • When I heard that Bethenny Frankel has a new talk show coming soon, I got admittedly a little too excited!!!  But seriously, I cannot wait!!!!
  • I bought a big bag of cadbury mini-eggs.  Have you tried them?!  Totally worth the $5 AND bajillion calories!!!  Plus, I kinda share.
  • With all of these sick babies watching YGG, I almost know the character's names.  Not really okay.
  • If I had the thought, "Did I wash my hair in last night's shower or the night before?" and really had to think about it.  (In my defense, the air is dry and there is a lot of dry shampoo usage in this household!)

Sick.

We have been sick-o's in the Smith/Clunie household.

Louisa has asthma, so her lungs have been acting up and she had a double ear infection at the beginning of the week.  Scarlett was diagnosed today with a double ear infection and RSV.  Poor babies:(

On top of all that nasty, we all have this terrible head cold/feeling icks all day thing goin' on...it hasn't been fun here!  I'm hoping that Scarlett bounces back as quickly as Lu; Lulu been running the house with Scarjo being down for the count.  That has been the hilarious part!  She just knocks on doors, snags anything she can grab to bring over to Scarjo, and just be-bops around the livingroom dancing to "Gabba."  (Yo Gabba Gabba is baby crack.  We have watched the same three episodes during this time of the sicks because nothing distracts a baby from feeling gross like baby crack, especially if the sick babies rarely watch any tv as it is.)

While we were at the doctors, Scarlett had to have a breathing treatment.  The nurse came in and explained how the machine could be a little loud and scary for some kids, blah, blah, blah...Scarjo didn't care, she just wanted the mask! She was strapped all up and sat still for the entire treatment!  She told the nurse all about "Nenu's medicine."  The nurse was less impressed by her stories, than by the fact that she sat so still...especially after Scarlett's rotten first impression of crying with real tears saying, "No ears, no ears!"

The picture just doesn't do Scarjo's happiness justice (clearly), but it was the best we could do with Tyler's old phone camera!

We got to take the mask home with instructions to give another breathing treatment if the crackly sound doesn't go away or if she has a really bad coughing spell.  Scarlett was pumped!

Scarlett's new sneaks!

Hello, Spring Fever!

We found these bad boys at Target for $10!  Best money I've spent all week; Scarjo wears them everywhere!!!

Proof!

They can play well together!!!

Having another little one who is close to Scarlett's age is definitely one of the major perks from the Clunies living with us; they totally entertain each other!

Besties for life!

Scarlett and her BFF

This was my Sunday afternoon with Scarlett.  We had just returned with treats and food for her "Sexy Frexy," and she wanted to feed him right. that. second.  So, I put the food down and Rex (obviously) pounced on it.  Then Scarlett asked for her yogurt and a spoon.  I got her snack all ready, handed it to her, and she raced over and plopped right down next to Rexy and ate with him!  (ew.)  But it was too funny not to snap a few photos!

Scarlett was just excited that Rex wasn't running away from her "flove!"

Happy Monday morning!  We have a play date, so we're off to clean and get pretty!!!

FUN Links.

How cool are these?!  (I really cannot wait to sell our house, so I can decorate a new place!)

YES.  Finally pictures of Miss Blue Ivy!!!

I just love Kelle and I can't wait for her book, Bloom, to come out!

Tyler said that yesterday was his best. birthday. ever.  Yessss!  One thing that I didn't end up getting him??  That's What She Said.  I wish I had; it encourages him to read and makes him laugh!  (also, I'd get to read it after!)

YES, YES, YES!  I have watched this video far too many times than anyone should admit to watching a video, but it is hilarious!!!  You're welcome.

These pictures make me think that Angelina totally does not do botox.  Look at all those wrinkles!

I read this post and it really struck a chord with me.  Yes, just yes.

Cheeky Cheeky : Top 5 Fake Jobs I Should Totally Have is pretty funny!  I need to make my own list...!

Cheeky Cheeky Amusingly Sassy Blog is one of my new faves.  This post, more specifically.  Well said, Carmen, well said.

Seriously loving Carmen!!!  Her post ideas are so fun -- I want to do some like them of my own!!!  This is one that I have to do.

It's quite obvious to me after looking back at this list that I need to be reading some more educational things or my brain is going to melt.  I'm going to have to work on that...!

After ZERO success...

Scarlett has peed on the potty 3x in the last 12 hours!!!  Woohoo!!!  I was starting to think Scarjo was going to kindergarten in her pull-ups.  Not any more; we have a potty-trainee now!  The potty is no longer just a fun seat!

And of course, photographic evidence:

What?  You don't keep your potties in the toy room?!

A treat for all her troubles:

Leftover cake is a definite perk of birthday parties!

He's THIRTY.

Tyler turns the big 3-0 today and he is freaking out.  Poor guy!  Hehehe, and I'm a little evil to laugh at his anxiety, but I'm still safely in my twenties for a good year and a half, so laughing I will do!

I mean, thirty is not that old, it's a distinguished age.  Right?!  That's what I keep trying to tell him anyway.  When you're in your twenties, you're still close-ish to the age you were in college; at thirty, you enter a whole new age bracket!  I'm selfishly excited for myself that Tyler is thirty because he feels like being still twenty-something means acting like a college student, at times...or maybe I'm just jealous because he still looks the same as he did in college and I have wrinkles and stretch marks.  Shoot!!!

Here is a little peek at something I made for his birthday present...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Before I show you a peek into our morning full of little girls' Valentines fun, I have to show you this post.  I LOVE it! Cely is just always hilarious anyway, but then when she adds Downton Abbey pictures and a Ryan Gosling "Hey Girl," it totally makes my day!  Happy reading!

Now on to our Valentine's festivities...!

This morning, Scarlett and Louisa woke up to some fun surprises...
(Mom fail.  Scarjo will be wearing her Vday jammies tonight!  Whoops!)
(We are re-doing our bathroom, so please excuse the make up all over the counter!)

Happy girl!
After getting ready, we headed on over to the Valentine's Day party at our Toddler Time!

When we left the Vday party, we headed to Shaw's to pick out a birthday cake for Tyler's 30th tomorrow...!  Now the ladies are asleep -- they were exhausted after their morning of fun!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Valentine's Day!  I'm off to clean and wrap my afternoon away...!

Monday, February 13, 2012

At least I'm not still in my jammies...

It's been that kind of day.  But I am dressed!  If grey yoga pants and a sweatshirt count as dressed.  And my silver fox of a mailman caught me in my state of undressed - ish.  Ick.  Although I can't really complain, my day has consisted of baking for Tyler's birthday and our Toddler Time Valentine's Day party, TWO hours of Downton Abbey (sees ya, Lavinia!), and an almost three hour nap for Scarjo!!!  Thank goodness...she was such a monster this morning, we didn't even make it to open swim.  I just mentally couldn't deal.

So my day has been fantastic looking back; not sure why I'm in such a funk!  Other cool things that happened:

  • My birchbox came today!!!  And inside?  There were cat eye liner stickers!!!  I can't mess that up, right?!  Pictures to come once I have a reason to get all gussied up!  Maybe Tyler's 30th birthday??  It's this Wednesday; poor guy is already having a panic attack about leaving his 20's behind...!
  • My peanut butter balls came out perfect.  Tyler will be excited.
  • Scarlett and I had an hour to ourselves while Mamie and Nenu napped (Mary and Lulu) and we had so much fun!  I miss my little lady one-on-one sometimes, so it was nice to just spend some quality time with her.
  • I found the sweater that I've wanted for a while...and it's still available!
  • Mary said that I could borrow her sweater for a birthday party next weekend.  Score!
  • I finished the dishes to hide all evidence of the making of Tyler's pb balls!  Phew!
  • A gift arrived in the mail that I hadn't even received a shipment confirmation, so that was a relief.  I might actually have all the pieces to Tyler's gift by Wednesday...hopefully.
  • Selena Gomez came on the Music Choice Hit List and I've listened to it about 5x "for Scarlett" because she loves her some "Naneena!"  (I may have some Selena fever, too!)

On a completely unrelated note, I am sad that Whitney Houston died.  She was way too young and Bobbi Kristina is just a teen!  Though I can't say that I'm shocked, it is still tragic.  :(

After hearing of her death, I immediately looked up Whitney's videos on youtube, and I must say, I am going to have to re-watch The Bodyguard soon!  I had forgotten how great that movie was and I Will Always Love You is A-MAZ-ING!!!!  Obviously.

Some of my other Whitney favorites:

And of course,

She was so talented.  RIP Whitney.

"Throwing Hunnids"

Who??
Have you ever heard of Tyga??  Yeah, me neither...well, until last week.  Apparently, he's a singer who has a song called, Rack City.  Naively, Mary (and me, too, I'll admit it!) thought this was just a good song with a nice beat.  (Mary may have been teaching Scarlett how to "throw hunnids" as they danced around the kitchen.)  It's been quite hilarious watching them...and then I looked up the Rack City video.  Whoa!  I was shocked to learn what Rack City was really about!

Of course, now it's pretty clear..."Rack" City is about a strip club!  Oh man...just another glaringly obvious sign that I'm not longer a young, hip college student, as much as I may feel like it!  Yet another sign?  The fact that I spent my Friday night at Jo-Ann's Fabrics.  So hip.

Though, apparently, I'm not the only one who is oblivious:

"You know what makes me feel old?  When I see girls who are 20-something, or the new crop of actresses, and think, 'Aren't we kind of the same age?'" --Jennifer Aniston, 43

Oh, Jen!

FUN Links!

This was pretty entertaining for Mary and me...though they totally pulled off swim caps better than we did!

Louisa and Scarlett are READY for swimming!

Here are my favorite links lately...enjoy!

"She's my thinspiration."  Hilarious!

This + Mary's insistance finally broke me down and I bought he first season of Downton Abbey.  Now I'm addicted!

I feel like this post was a sign.  I must do it.  My roommates will thank me, I'm sure!

This list would be super-helpful if Scarlett ate anything other than yogurt, broccoli, or gum.  I'd like to still make a copy of it for our fridge!

Honestly, I agree 100%...ok, 98%.  To tackle someone full on has never been a need for me...call me crazy!

I just love Suri's Burn Book!  I think it's hilarious and only feel slightly guilty for reading it since MODG was all about Suri before SBB.  This post is one of my favorites.

I may not have been able to master the cat eye liner, but I watched this video and have the smoky eye technique down!!!  Easy Peasy!

Jamesie Beats the Tumor is a well-written blog that makes me so sad for his parents, but at the same time, makes me so thankful that bad teeth are Scarlett's only health problems.

I could so see myself doing this!  I used to race my friend on our way to work and I didn't tell her for an entire school year!

This is redundent from Tuesday's post, but yes, please!

I keep forgetting about Tom + Lorenzo and Mary keeps reminding me to go to their site.  Eeek!  And look what I found...totally feeding my DA obsession!

Birchbox has won me over.  Now I'm just waiting for my February box...!

Play At Home Mom.  We have a love/hate relationship.  But I feel like this blog is giving me great ideas to improve Scarlett's environment and play time.  Yay!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

This Just Happened.

Ok, so really it happened a few months ago, but I found it this AM and am a little angry with Tyler all over again!

It's just me and the roomies are here, sitting in the living room, drinking a glass of sweet red, and watching Modern Family.  I glance over at Mary to tell her to look at their counter tops (for inspiration...hint, hint, next project maybe?!) when on the television, I hear Phil Dunphy say to Claire, "You're easy on the eyes when you put in a little effort."  (Or something close to that)  Tyler's eyes swing over to ME right as Phil says that.  Whoa.  We're fighting!

Lipstick Love?

NYX - Thalia

This photo has been floating around pinterest for a while, so of course, I had to try it!  I'm obsessed with nude lipstick, but I'd like to try to spice things up a bit!  This shade seemed like a safe way of working my way towards color...so off to amazon I went!

My lipstick arrived this afternoon and I couldn't wait to try it on...even Scarlett got in on the fun; lipstick was all over her face!

I will say that I hate this lipstick.  It's a nude-ish color, but intensified and dark.  I felt like Katy Perry when I put it on.  Not pretty.

I have yet to take a decent picture of myself while wearing it -- but you get the idea!

It looks way too dark and not nude at all in real life.  Yuck!

NYX in Thalia was definitely NOT a worthwhile purchase!

So What Wednesday

  • I spend 90% of my time on Facebook looking at my own pictures.
  • I don't dare put my weight from My Fitness Pal online.  I won't even add a picture just in case someone finds me...if that can even happen!
  • I started this post last Wednesday when I realized that I had forgotten to add a few SWW bullets that I meant to add...
  • I bought the Yo Gabba Gabba music.  And Scarlett asks for it by name!  Oh man...and I thought Choo Choo Soul was bad!
  • Scarlett uses everything as a phone.  I mean, I know this is normal for babies/toddlers, but some things that she finds just crack me up!  The silliest so far have been a bottle of lotion, a battery, and the plug of a wii controller...such a crazy little lady!
  • I stayed home to "do laundry" and ended up blogging!  I just have too much fun and there were only two loads...
  • I "lose my sh*t" (as Mary says) in Walmart.  It's true.  I go there to pick up a few things and leave lots of dollars poorer, not exactly knowing what happened.  Tyler's considering doing the groceries with me just to save a few "dollah, dollah, billz."  It's not my fault that I end up going crazy; they just have  everything that I could ever want or need!  Dangerous.
  •   Downton Abbey is a huge friendly time stealer.  And I'm not even sad about it!!!  Plus, it's on PBS, so I feel like it makes it almost educational, right?!
  • Keeping with the DA theme, the voice inside of my head talks in a British accent.
  • I JUST started following Shannon Dew because I thought I had been this whole time!  I struggle, clearly.  I'm glad I finally got with the program!

An Update.

Scarlett had her dentist appointment yesterday.  It was so draining.  Technically it was her two-year-old check-up, so they started out with the counting, cleaning, and painting of the teeth...and then the discussion.  Dr. Shenkin said we had two choices:
  • Wait until she's three and then sedate and extract at the dentist office
  • Wait a few more months, sedate, extract/cap the teeth at the hospital
The reason it would only be extraction at age three is because there will not be enough of her teeth left if we wait a year.  Scary.  Either way, these teeth will start to fall out in three years, so that is a relief.  This. Is. Not. Forever.  Phew!!!  Tyler and I are still discussing exactly what we'll do, but we have tentatively set up surgery for 5/18/12...

Another update...
I love Ali Wentworth!!!
She rocks!

And she has a new book!!!  Woohoo!!!!  I am dy-ing to read it!!!!

Mmmmm...I love today!

Scarlett and I have made our weekly trip to heaven!  Cake pops & venti Americano.  YUM!
 Happy Starbucks Sunday!

We'll be spending the rest of our Sunday relaxing and doing laundry.  Must have clean jeans!  Oh, and we're making an attempt at perfecting Tyler's favorite cheese dip for tonight's game...another call may have to be made to my MIL...he's so specific with his velveeta.

In this house, everyone will be cheering on the PATRIOTS tonight!  Woohoo!  Although I'm more excited for the fantastic commercials and Madonna, the excitement of the Super Bowl always makes me extra-happy!

Because two are better than one!

Louisa has her own potty now, so of course, Scarlett is more interested in her potty again!

Friday, February 3, 2012

Alyssa Lou!

It's been forever since we've had Alyssa for any length of time because she has moved in with my Mom, David, and Camdyn (yay!).  It's been so good for her;  she and Molly have a stable home life.  The point being, I've been missing some QT with Little Miss!  Molly had to go to court (again), so Mary, Louisa, Scarlett, and I had Alyssa all to ourselves for the morning!!!

Scarjo has a fuffice(pacifier)  and purse just because Alyssa has them!

A couple of my favorite Alyssa lines:

"Auntie Meg, that's a stop sign!  That's a stop sign!  Auntie Meg, you didn't stop at the stop sign!!!"  Haha, she appreciates my rolling stops almost as much as Auntie Mary!

(As we're listening to Rhianna and be-bopping around town) "Auntie Meg, do you have to go potty?"  That should tell how smooth my dance moves were!  Ha!

We took the opportunity to bring Alyssa to the bounce house with the girls; Scarjo will do just about anything that Alyssa does...except going up the big ladder to the slide.  It was so fun to watch fearless Alyssa fly down on her belly.  Backwards.

Scarlett's telling Alyssa to go down her slide...

Finally Auntie Mary brought Lulu up to slide with Alyssa!
After the bounce house, we took them to McDonald's (I know, ew, but they have an indoor play place, so off we went...!)  Alyssa made friends with a little girl that was close to her age  while Scarjo waited for them at the bottom of the slide.  Sads.  Lulu was busy entertaining herself in the toddler area.  The most entertaining part for me was watching the girls decorate their faces with Barbie stickers.  They thought it was so cool...

The real reason for our McDonald's visit: best. diet coke. EVER!
After lunch, we headed home for naps!  Molly and Mum came to bring Alyssa home for her nap...what a fun morning!

And now we're on to today...it is Thursday, sooooo I obviously have boatloads of pictures from gymnastics!!!!!!  But before gymnastics, Mary and I dressed the little ladies in their matching dresses.  Cutie-cutes x100!

"Flove!!!"

And now time for gymnastics!  Scarjo was still a super-star on the bars...and I made Mary and Louisa come watch and cheer her on!  She looooved that!

playing peek-a-boo with her friends

doing the spider!

I love how proud she looks carrying around her star...such a big girl!

waiting patiently for her stamp!
Next week, Lulu will be joining Scarjo in gymnastics class...yay!

Oh!  On a side note, Scarjo calls Mr. Rex "sexy" now!  It's hilarious to hear her call out in her little voice, "Sexy!  Seeexxxyyyyyyy!" when she wants to give him "flove."   I maybe even have it on video...!
